Egypt is set to issue its first sovereign sukuk in Egyptian pounds during the first quarter (Q1) of 2025.

Egypt has reached an agreement with Norway's Scatec to pay 50% of the cost of electricity from its upcoming 1,000-megawatt hybrid solar project in Egyptian pounds.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has called for increased utilization of local currencies among BRICS member countries during his address at the BRICS Development Bank Forum held in Cairo on June 11th.

Pakistan will discuss trade exchange in local currencies with Egypt, with priority to wheat trade, Pakistani Minister of Industries and Production Gohar Ejaz said.
