Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk affirmed the full availability of all basic commodities in the local market, with a strategic stock sufficient for more than six month.

The Egyptian government is planning to scale up the country’s strategic reserve of basic commodities to be sufficient for nine months instead of six months.

The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, represented by the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), has signed a contract to import 200,000 tons of raw sugar.

Cooking oil prices in Egypt have dropped further by 14% on Saturday, April 20th, with the price of blended cooking oil in markets starting from EGP 65 per 1 liter, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi announced.

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has declared seven essential commodities, namely mixed oil, broad beans, rice, milk, sugar, pasta, and white cheese, as strategic products in the implementation of Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018, as per a cabinet statement on December 30th.
