ACWA Power to operate Egypt’s Kom Ombo solar plant in weeks

Arab Finance: The Saudi ACWA Power is planning to operate its 200-megawatt (MW) Kom Ombo solar power plant in Egypt within the coming weeks, sources familiar with the matter told Al Arabiya Business.

The project’s contractor has completed the construction works, the sources said, adding that this would be followed by technical testing and then full operation of the plant.

With $182 million in investments, the project aims to meet the energy needs of around 130,000 households and cut 280,000 tons of carbon emissions annually, they noted.

This will contribute to generating 42% of the country’s renewable energy sources by 2035.
