Egypt, Belgium to study project to export renewable energy to Europe

Arab Finance: Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Belgian Jan De Nul Group to start studies of a project to export renewable energy from Egypt to Europe, as per a statement by the Egyptian cabinet.

The study paves the way for exporting renewable energy via a maritime route at the Mediterranean Sea with a capacity of no less than 2 gigawatts.

Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker said that the MoU comes within the framework of Egypt’s plan to strengthen partnership with Europe in the field of energy.
