CBE declares April 12th-13th bank holiday on Coptic Easter, Sham El-Nessim

Arab Finance: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has announced that all banks operating in Egypt will suspend operations on Sunday and Monday, April 12th and 13th, 2026, in observance of Coptic Easter and Sham El-Nessim.

In a statement, the CBE said banking services will resume on the morning of Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, following the two-day holiday.

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) also announced suspension of trading on the same days, in celebration of Coptic Easter and Sham El-Nessim, with trading sessions to resume on Tuesday, April 14th.

Previously, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly declared Monday an official paid holiday for employees working in ministries, government bodies, and the public sector.

Likewise, Minister of Labor Hassan Radad announced the same holiday for private sector employees.
