Arab Finance: Commercial International Bank Egypt (CIB) recorded an 18% year-on-year (YoY) increase in consolidated net profits attributable to the bank's shareholders for the first half (H1) of 2026, according to the financial results.
CIB generated net profits totaling EGP 39.313 billion in H1 2026, versus EGP 33.346 billion in H1 2025.
Basic earnings per share (EPS) climbed to EGP 10.23 at the end of June 2026 from EGP 8.82 a year earlier, while the net interest income jumped to EGP 60.826 billion from EGP 51.335 billion.
Meanwhile, non-consolidated net profits after tax amounted to EGP 39.235 billion in the first six months of 2026, an annual rise from EGP 33.409 billion.
Likewise, standalone net interest income grew, reaching EGP 60.476 billion from EGP 51.151 billion.
The EGX-listed lender reinforced its resilient financial performance in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, echoing the well-maintained composure of the Egyptian economy.
As for the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, CIB delivered strong top- and bottom-line growth, recording a bottom line of EGP 21.5 billion, 21% up from Q1 and 29% up from last year, mainly driven by a solid jump in the top line of 10% and 23%, respectively.
In H1 2026, CIB recorded a bottom line of EGP 39.3 billion, marking an 18% increase from H1 2025 and 19% in USD terms, backed by 20% growth in the top line.
Local currency deposits increased by 20% or EGP 141 billion from last quarter, of which 75% or EGP 106 billion came in current accounts and savings accounts (CASA), marking the highest local currency deposit quarterly net sales in the bank’s history.
The management commented: “CIB managed to increase the number of New-to-Bank (NTB) customers by 26% from 100,000 in Q1 2026 to 127,000 in Q2 2026 and by 35% from 169,000 in H1 2025 to 227,000 in H1 2026.”
It elaborated: “This was undeniably supported by a sound digital infrastructure, which allowed CIB to continue to pioneer in digital banking, as exemplified in the launch of 'CIB Business', marking the first – in the Egyptian Market – Mobile Application exclusively designed for Business Banking Customers.”
“Evidently, the volume and value of digital transactions increased by 15% and 55%, respectively, from last year, with CIB serving 2.2 million users of Online Banking Digital,” the statement read.
