EGX suspends trading August 27 for Prophet Muhammad’s birthday

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) will suspend trading on Thursday, August 27, in observance of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, as per an announcement.

Trading will resume as usual on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly declared August 27 an official paid holiday for employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) also announced that banks nationwide would close for the occasion.
