Arab Finance: Egypt’s automotive sales increased by 18.2% year on year (YoY) to approximately 16,900 vehicles in May 2026, compared to 14,300 vehicles in the same month of 2025, according to the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).
Month-on-month (MoM), sales grew by 10.3% from 15,330 vehicles in April 2026.
Passenger car sales rose by 10.3% YoY to 12,280 vehicles in May, up from 11,120 vehicles a year earlier.
Bus sales nearly doubled, climbing by 97.3% YoY to 1,563 units from 792 units. Truck sales also increased by 28.8% to 3,067 units.
Meanwhile, electric vehicle sales surged by 665% YoY to 352 units in May, accounting for approximately 3% of total passenger car sales.
During the first five months of 2026, total automotive sales grew by nearly 40% to 81,300 vehicles, compared to 58,100 vehicles during the same period of 2025.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt's auto sales increased by 47.25% YoY from January to April 2026, rising from 43,779 to 64,463 units.
