Egypt scraps paper passport cards for Egyptian travelers at Cairo Airport starting April 11th

Arab Finance: Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the cancellation of the paper passport card for Egyptian passengers departing from and arriving at all terminals of Cairo International Airport, effective Saturday, April 11th, 2026.

The move comes as part of the state’s broader push toward digital transformation and efforts to streamline government procedures and facilitate travel processes.

Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny said the decision aims to improve the travel experience for passengers and enhance operational efficiency, in line with the latest global standards in the air transport sector.

The ministry added that the system will be gradually rolled out across other Egyptian airports in the coming period.
