Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued Decree No. 24 of 2026 approving Egypt’s accession to the D-8 Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and its Protocol on Dispute Settlement.

The House of Representatives greenlit the decree during its session on June 15, 2026.

The agreement aims to promote intra-D-8 trade by reducing tariffs and addressing non-tariff barriers, while facilitating the movement of goods among member countries. It is also expected to help diversify the range of products traded within the bloc and expand market access for businesses.

In 2025, Egypt's exports to the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) edged down 0.4% to $4 billion from $4.02 billion in 2024, marking the lowest export value among the groupings.

Meanwhile, the country's imports from the trade blocs also increased, reaching $42.3 billion in 2025, up 4.6% from $40.4 billion in 2024.
