Emirates NBD Egypt appoints Ahmed Shedid as Country General Counsel

Arab Finance: Emirates NBD Egypt has appointed Ahmed Shedid as the Country General Counsel for Legal Affairs, a move reflecting the bank’s commitment to strengthening its governance framework in line with its sustainable growth strategy.

Shedid brings more than 20 years of legal experience in both the banking and legal sectors. He began his career at Shalakany Law Firm, where he progressed through various positions to become a Senior Counsel, gaining expertise in commercial law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), governance, and legal advisory.

Later on, he moved to HSBC Egypt, where he held several leadership roles, including Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management.

During his time at HSBC Egypt, he led numerous legal and strategic initiatives related to governance, compliance, legal risk management, business support, and regulatory engagement at both the local and regional levels.

The new appointment comes as part of the bank’s commitment to attracting leading talents with outstanding experience, which supports its journey towards achieving its strategic goals.

In the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, Emirates NBD Egypt delivered strong financial results, with net profits jumping by 22% to EGP 1.7 billion from EGP 1.4 billion.
