Global Gaming Market: Egypt’s Emerging Digital Opportunity

The global gaming industry has developed into a major segment of the digital economy, driven by technological advancements, expanding internet and smartphone access, and changing digital entertainment patterns. Beyond entertainment, gaming is increasingly connected to software development, digital content creation, esports, and other technology-driven activities. Egypt is also witnessing growing momentum in this sector, supported by its young population, expanding digital infrastructure, and increasing adoption of digital technologies, which create opportunities for both domestic market growth and participation in global gaming value chains.

In this Factsheet, we dig deep into the global and domestic gaming market and highlight its features.

  • Global gaming revenues reached approximately $201.6 billion in 2025, registering annual growth of 9.1%, while the global player base reached around 3.6 billion, equivalent to approximately 61.5% of internet users worldwide. Mobile gaming represented the largest segment, generating $113.3 billion, followed by console gaming at $44.7 billion and PC gaming at $43.6 billion.
  • Egypt’s gaming market reached approximately $912.9 million in 2025 and is projected to nearly double to $1.8 billion by 2034. This represents a compound annual growth rate of 7.61% during 2026–2034, reflecting the expansion of gaming participation alongside Egypt’s growing digital economy.
  • Egypt has a substantial domestic gaming audience, with approximately 31 million gamers and around 1.8 million hours of gaming recorded daily. The sector recorded growth of about 21%, supported by Egypt’s young population, increasing smartphone penetration, and improvements in digital infrastructure. This large consumer base provides a potential foundation for developing locally produced games and digital entertainment content.
  • Mobile gaming represents a particularly significant opportunity for Egypt, mirroring the global market structure. Globally, mobile games generated $113.3 billion in 2025, accounting for more than half of total gaming revenues. In Egypt, mobile access is supported by widespread smartphone use and expanding internet connectivity, creating opportunities for locally developed games targeting Egyptian, Arab, and wider international audiences.
  • The economic opportunity extends beyond game consumption to game development, esports, digital content creation, and software services. For Egypt, the expansion of these technologies could support domestic studios and developers in producing Arabic-language and culturally relevant content while creating opportunities for digital exports and integration into international gaming value chains.
  • Egypt’s opportunity is increasingly linked to transforming its large domestic player base into a stronger digital production ecosystem. Relevant priorities include expanding incubation and acceleration programs, connecting Egyptian developers with international investors, strengthening technical capabilities, facilitating technology partnerships, and protecting intellectual property. The Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Services (2022–2026) and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2025–2030) provide broader frameworks that can support these objectives.
