Arab Finance: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated China-based artificial turf manufacturer VIVATURF Artificial Grass Egypt Co., Ltd.’s $4 million factory in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, which operates under the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), as per a statement.

Located within the area developed by TEDA-Egypt, the 8,000-square-meter facility has an annual production capacity of 3 million square meters of artificial turf. The project offers around 140 jobs, of which 120 are direct and 20 are indirect.

Madbouly said investments in specialized industries broaden Egypt’s locally manufactured product base and help meet rising demand from the sports and leisure sectors.

He added that diversifying industrial activities would support the establishment of a production base capable of addressing market needs and supplying competitively priced products.

During a tour of the factory, Madbouly received a briefing from VIVATURF's Chairman on the reception of raw materials and the turf and yarn production stages. He also inspected the adhesive coating line and viewed the finished products.

Long said the company exports artificial turf for stadiums worldwide and has developed a process for recycling the product.

Founded in 2008, VIVATURF operates two production bases and two research and development centers worldwide, according to the company. Its global annual production capacity stands at approximately 50,000 tons of grass fibers and 30 million square meters of artificial turf.

The manufacturer’s operations cover the entire production chain, from research and development to manufacturing and installation.

Moustafa Shaikhon, chairman of SCZONE, said the project adds a specialized manufacturing activity based on synthetic fibers and supports the diversification of production in the Sokhna Industrial Zone.

He added that VIVATURF’s experience could support the development of the sector within SCZONE and encourage the establishment of related industries.

Shaikhon said the company’s decision to establish a production base in SCZONE reflects the zone’s ability to accommodate specialized industrial investments and provide an integrated manufacturing environment and supporting services.
