Arab Finance: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has discussed potential cooperation and knowledge-sharing opportunities with ambassadors of 10 member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), as per a statement.

SCA Chairman and Managing Director Osama Rabie received the delegation at the authority’s Guidance Building headquarters in Ismailia Governorate as part of ongoing coordination with Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The delegation included ambassadors from Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

The visit was intended to introduce the delegation to development opportunities connected to Suez Canal projects and the authority’s experience in training, fisheries development, marine vessel construction, maritime services, and other fields.

Rabie pointed to the authority’s previous cooperation with Arab and African countries and its involvement in international projects, including the development and reopening of Libya’s Port of Sirte after 14 years of closure.

Rabie also highlighted an agreement with the Namibian Ports Authority covering port modeling and technical training.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Egypt Topply Mulambo Lubaya said the delegation was seeking to examine further areas of cooperation with the authority, particularly given its existing partnerships with SADC members, including Zambia and Namibia.

He added that the Suez Canal is the ideal destination for economic cooperation, describing the waterway as a cornerstone of Egypt’s economic development and a strategic artery for global navigation.
