Arab Finance: Egypt remained Africa’s largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) for the fourth consecutive year in 2025, attracting $15.5 billion in inflows, the Cabinet Media Center revealed, citing the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development's (UNCTAD) World Investment Report 2026.

Guinea ranked second with $7.8 billion in FDI, followed by Mozambique with $5.7 billion, Nigeria with $4 billion, and Ethiopia with $3.8 billion.

Uganda attracted inflows of $3.4 billion, while Morocco received $3.3 billion and Kenya secured $3.2 billion. FDI flows reached $2 billion in Côte d’Ivoire and $1.9 billion each in Ghana and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Meanwhile, Tanzania and Algeria attracted $1.7 billion and $1.5 billion, respectively, according to the report.

The Egyptian Cabinet attributed Egypt’s performance to structural reforms, infrastructure development, and major national projects, which strengthened the country’s competitiveness and investment environment.

UNCTAD also identified Egypt among the countries that successfully attracted investment linked to the restructuring of traditional industries, supporting its role as an alternative production base, industrial processing hub, and gateway to major markets.
