Arab Finance: The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, represented by the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), has signed a contract to import 200,000 tons of raw sugar, as per a statement.
The shipment is set for arrival from May to August 2024.
On April 4th, GASC signed a contract to import 250,000 tons of raw sugar, to be delivered in May, July, and August 2024, in favor of the Holding Company for Food Industries (HCFI).
This brings the total contracted for sugar to 450,000 tons, which will be refined at the factories of the HCFI.
The move aims to increase the country’s strategic reserves of sugar as well as boost the supply of this key strategic commodity in markets.
