Greece to address labor shortage with Egyptian farmworkers

Arab Finance: Greece is set to assign temporary farming jobs to Egyptian workers this summer to address a labor shortage in its farming sector, Reuters reported, citing a statement by the Greek migration ministry.

The initiative is part of a bilateral agreement between Egypt and Greece, aiming at alleviating workforce deficits exacerbated by a decade-long economic downturn.

Under the 2022 agreement, Greece will host approximately 5,000 seasonal farm workers from Egypt.

Discussions are underway to expand this collaboration to include the construction and tourism sectors.
