COP28 wrapped up with climate deal to transition away from fossil fuel

Arab Finance: The final session of the COP28 climate summit in Dubai has ended with an agreement, called UAE Consensus, urging the world to transition away from fossil fuels to achieve net zero by 2050, Bloomberg reported.

Called by COP28 President Sultan Al Jaber as “historic”, the deal sets ambitious new targets to combat climate change.

“It is a balanced plan that tackles emissions, bridges the gap on adaptation, reimagines global finance and delivers on loss and damage,” Al Jaber noted.

“An agreement is only as good as its implementation. We are what we do, not what we say,” Al Jaber said, adding that “we must take the steps necessary to turn this agreement into tangible actions.”
