Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held talks with Vivek Natarajan, Worley’s Vice President for Project Delivery and Operations covering Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and Sub-Saharan Africa, on the sidelines of the Egypt Mining Forum 2026.
The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in mining and leveraging Worley’s global capabilities, technologies, and technical expertise to support existing and new mining projects in Egypt.
Officials also addressed human capital development through practical training and technical qualification programs aimed at enhancing the skills of Egyptian personnel working in the mining sector.
Both sides agreed to foster ties between Worley and companies operating in the Egyptian mining sector to open new avenues for cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, processing facilities, and other components of mining projects.
During the two-day event, Badawi held meetings with leaders from Saudi Arabia and Congo to discuss expanding cooperation in the mining sector.
He also reviewed the World Bank Group’s plans to support Egypt’s mining sector via initial financing to encourage private-sector projects, particularly in phosphate and related industries.
