Arab Finance: The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced positive drilling results from the Nessim-1X natural gas exploratory well in the Mediterranean Sea, as per a statement.
Drilling and preliminary evaluation activities revealed a gas-bearing interval with excellent petrophysical properties, with initial estimates indicating nearly 200 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas in the reservoir.
Located in the Temsah Concession area, Italy’s Eni operates the well in partnership with Australia’s Woodside, while Petrobel carried out the well’s drilling operations on behalf of the partners.
Initial estimates highlight excellent petrophysical properties within the gas-bearing rocks, with a net pay thickness of 15 meters in true vertical depth (TVD).
The ministry noted that technical studies are underway to further evaluate the reservoir and assess the well’s production potential.
To accelerate the development of the discovery and bring it onstream, plans are underway to connect the well to existing production facilities through the construction of an approximately 22-kilometer gas pipeline connecting it to the Abu Madi–El Gamil pipeline. This approach will shorten the time required to bring the discovery online and contribute to supporting Egypt’s local natural gas production.
