Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation’s (EGPC) executive board, led by CEO Salah Abdel-Karim, to review plans to increase domestic production, secure petroleum product supplies, and improve operational efficiency, as per a statement.
Discussions also covered crude oil refining, petroleum product availability, and the efficiency of handling and distribution systems to ensure domestic demand is met and supplies continue to reach sectors across the country.
Badawi stressed that raising domestic output and securing petroleum product supplies remain top priorities, highlighting EGPC’s role in coordinating its divisions, monitoring company performance, and making fuller use of existing production and refining capacity and infrastructure.
To advance these priorities, the minister called for faster project implementation, more efficient operations, and stronger economic returns from activities, projects, and available assets. These efforts should support higher production, better performance, and improved services for citizens, alongside continued work to attract and incentivize investment and expand prospecting, exploration, and production.
Badawi also urged EGPC to strengthen its operating procedures and regularly review performance indicators and results. He directed the corporation to closely monitor the implementation of plans and projects and promptly resolve obstacles so that it and its affiliated companies can meet their targets within the established timelines.
Projects that directly increase production, secure supplies, or improve economic efficiency should take priority, he added. He also stressed that all work sites must fully adhere to the highest standards of safety, occupational health, and environmental protection.
