Arab Finance: The securities brokerage division of EFG Hermes, a unit of EFG Holding, ranked first across five major MENA stock exchanges during the first half (H1) of 2026, according to a press release.
The ranking reinforces the group’s position as the region's leading brokerage platform for institutional and retail investors.
EFG Hermes secured the top position on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), Boursa Kuwait, the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), and Nasdaq Dubai. The firm also ranked first across the UAE on a combined basis, reflecting broad-based gains across the Gulf alongside its continued leadership in Egypt.
In the UAE, EFG Hermes led trading activity across all three exchanges, capturing a 48.52% market share on DFM, 38.92% on ADX, and 65.69% on Nasdaq Dubai. On a combined basis, its UAE market share reached 42.87%, lifting the firm to first place after ranking second in 2025.
The brokerage also climbed to the top position in Kuwait, where its market share increased to 41.56% in H1 2026 from 33.19% in 2025, advancing from second place.
On Nasdaq Dubai, EFG Hermes posted one of its strongest performances, with market share surging to 65.69% from 20.59% in 2025, enabling the firm to move from third place to the leading brokerage position.
In Egypt, EFG Hermes retained its long-standing leadership on EGX, increasing its market share to 29.60% in H1 2026, compared with 27.76% in 2025.
Commenting on the achievement, Ahmed Waly, Group Head of Brokerage at EFG Hermes, said: “This is not a one-market story; it is the result of years of investment in talent, technology, execution quality, and deep client relationships across our footprint.”
Waly added: “Our brokerage business is increasingly defined by the combination of high-touch advisory, scalable technology, and access to liquidity across the region’s most important markets. We have continued to advance our electronic and algorithmic trading capabilities, strengthen connectivity for institutional clients, and expand our stock borrowing and lending offering.”
In June, EFG Hermes closed an EGP 5.1 billion corporate bond issuance for EFG Corp-Solutions, EFG Finance’s leasing and factoring arm, which was the largest corporate bond issuance ever completed in Egypt’s debt capital market.
