Arab Finance: Evergreen resumed its shipping services across the Suez Canal following a nearly three-year hiatus amid the Red Sea crisis, Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), announced.
The giant container ship Ever Eon, part of the Evergreen fleet, made its first transit through the canal on Sunday, November 8, as part of the northbound convoy, sailing from the Netherlands to Singapore.
The vessel is 369 meters long and 53.6 meters wide, with a gross tonnage of 185,000 tons and a carrying capacity of up to 16,556 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
Rabie emphasized that this step is a positive indicator that global trade between the East and the West is moving back toward a sustainable path.
He added that Evergreen intends to resume more of its voyages through the canal in the coming period, noting that the Suez Canal has successfully regained several shipping services from major global carriers operating on the Europe-Asia trade route, including CMA CGM, Maersk, MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, COSCO, and now Evergreen.
