Arab Finance: Egypt and the UAE explored opportunities to expand joint investment across industry, agriculture, tourism, information and communication technology, and energy security as Egypt implements its economic transformation program, as per a statement.
Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom held talks with UAE Minister of Foreign Trade and the UAE's Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi on the sidelines of the 15th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Investment Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) CEO Mohamed Awad and Egypt’s Ambassador to the UAE Essam Ashour attended the meeting.
Rostom said the ministry is focusing on five priority sectors—industry, agriculture, tourism, ICT, and energy security—and creating investment opportunities through the National Investment Bank (NIB).
He highlighted Egypt’s focus on stimulating growth in strategic sectors, including agro-processing and food industries, manufacturing, tourism, and information and communication technology (ICT).
Rostom added that his ministry is working to increase the economic returns generated by state assets and manage public investment in line with the updated Egypt Vision 2030, noting that partnerships with Emirati investment institutions could support further investment in productive and service-oriented projects.
The discussions also covered opportunities available through the ministry’s affiliated entities and investment arms, led by the NIB.
Rostom reviewed investment opportunities involving NIB subsidiaries Ayadi Investment and Development Company and NI Capital Holding. The meeting also addressed plans to register electronic payment services company Sahl with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) to support its regional expansion.
For his part, Al Zeyoudi welcomed the momentum in economic relations between Egypt and the UAE. He affirmed the UAE’s interest in facilitating further joint investment and pursuing opportunities in Egypt, citing government incentives and measures introduced to improve the country’s investment environment.
The AIM Investment Summit 2026 is being held from September 7 to 9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
