Egypt's annual core inflation hits 14.9% in August: CBE

Arab Finance: The annual core consumer price index (CPI) inflation recorded 14.9% last August, compared to 14.7% in July 2026, according to data issued by the Central Bank of Egypt.

Monthly core CPI inflation reached 0.3%, compared with 0.1% in August 2025 and 0% in July 2026.

The CBE noted that the annual urban headline CPI inflation hit 14.5% in August, compared with 14.9% last July.

Monthly urban headline CPI inflation, released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), recorded 0.1% in August compared with 0.4% in August 2025 and 0% in July 2026.

The CAPMAS data showed that Egypt's annual headline inflation rate declined to 12.7% in August 2026 from 13% in July.
