Egypt declares six-day holiday for private sector on Eid El-Adha

Arab Finance: Minister of Labor Hassan Radad announced that employees covered under Egypt’s Labor Law No. 14 of 2025 will receive a six-day paid holiday for Eid El-Adha from Tuesday, May 26th, to Sunday, May 31st, according to a statement.

The decision comes as part of the government’s efforts to unify official holiday schedules across different employment sectors in Egypt. Meanwhile, scheduled exams will proceed as planned.

Radad outlined compensation rules for employees required to work during the holiday period. They are entitled to receive double pay in addition to their regular wages or may request compensatory leave through a written application to be included in their employment records.

On May 21st, the ministry began disbursing two new grants worth EGP 767.613 million to irregular workers. The package included the regular Eid El-Adha grant and an exceptional grant introduced as part of the social protection measures directed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
