Egypt denies $50M payment to repair Energos Winter FSRU

Arab Finance: The Cabinet Media Center has denied reports claiming that Egypt will bear $50 million in repair costs for the Energos Winter floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which was damaged in a previous incident at Damietta Port.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources also denied that any officials at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) had made any remarks confirming that Egypt would pay the repair cost.

Furthermore, the ministry indicated that it reserves all legal rights against those who published or republished the allegations or falsely attributed statements to EGAS officials.

Currently positioned in Damietta, Energos Winter is a FSRU supporting Egypt’s LNG import and gas supply infrastructure. The vessel features GTT No. 96-2 membrane containment technology and propane intermediate regasification systems capable of operating in both open and closed loop modes, with peak send-out of up to 650 mmscf/d.
