Egypt’s net international reserves reach $57.5B end-October: CBE

Arab Finance: Egypt’s net international reserves reached $57.5 billion at the end of October 2026, up from $57.35 billion a month earlier, according to data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Gross official reserves rose to $57.502 billion from the $50.074 billion recorded in October 2025.

Foreign currency holdings stood at $400.60 billion at the end of October 2026, up from $333.50 billion in the same month a year earlier.

Meanwhile, gold reserves amounted to $16.843 billion, up from $16.545 billion in October 2025.

Special drawing rights (SDRs) reached $599 million, compared to $179 million in October 2025.

International reserves are external assets held by the central bank, including foreign currencies and gold. Egypt’s main sources of foreign currency include remittances from Egyptians working abroad, export revenues, and Suez Canal receipts, among others.

Managed by the CBE, the reserves serve as a buffer against external economic shocks and help strengthen the country’s ability to meet its external obligations.
