EDA discusses pharma localization plans with AstraZeneca

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has mulled over plans with AstraZeneca to reinforce the localization of the pharmaceutical industry in the Egyptian market, according to an official statement.

In his meeting with Sherif Nour, Country President for AstraZeneca Egypt, Chairman of EDA Ali El-Ghamrawy discussed the latest developments in localizing the company's products in Egypt.

This expansion aims to facilitate the transfer of advanced technology, boost production capabilities, and improve the quality of pharmaceutical products in accordance with international standards.

The meeting also addressed transforming Egypt into a regional hub for pharmaceutical distribution across Africa, given its strategic location, enhanced infrastructure, and the EDA’s regulatory and technical capabilities.

The two sides also explored opportunities to scale the company’s pharmaceutical exports to African countries and reviewed mechanisms for cooperation to support the access of Egyptian products to those markets.
