Arab Finance: Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa held an expanded meeting to follow up on the performance of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company (MIH) and its subsidiaries, according to a statement.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing development projects, modernization plans, future expansions, and preparations for initial public offerings (IPOs).
Eissa emphasized that the group is one of Egypt’s key industrial entities and a cornerstone of the national economy, given its diverse portfolio spanning mining, aluminum, copper, steel, pipes, glass, ferroalloys, refractories, and composite materials.
He stressed the need to accelerate development and expansion projects across MIH's subsidiaries to deepen local manufacturing, increase the use of domestic inputs, substitute imports, and enhance export competitiveness.
The official also called for maximizing the value added of Egypt's raw materials by expanding downstream industries and improving the utilization of existing production capacities to boost efficiency, profitability, and sustainable growth.
The meeting also addressed progress in implementing the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system across the group to advance digital transformation, enhance operational efficiency, strengthen resource management, and improve data-driven decision-making.
Officials also discussed the status of planned IPOs for several of the holding company's subsidiaries that were recently granted temporary listings on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) under the government's privatization program.
The initiative aims at broadening the ownership base, maximizing state asset returns, deepening the capital market, attracting private investment, and increasing private sector participation in the economy.
