El-Wazir opens EGP 700M El Amreya Dry Port in Alexandria

Arab Finance: Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir has inaugurated El Amreya Dry Port in Alexandria, with total investments of EGP 700 million, according to a statement.

Spanning 146,000 square meters, the facility is expected to strengthen Egypt’s transport and logistics infrastructure, facilitate trade, and improve cargo movement. Its proximity to the first line of the high-speed electric train network and the conventional railway network will support multimodal transport connectivity and logistics operations.

The dry port enables shipping, storage, and cargo-handling operations to be conducted away from seaport quays, easing congestion at seaports and on roads while improving movement of goods. It also links seaports with industrial and distribution centers, boosting efficient supply chains.

For his part, El-Wazir said the project aligns with the ministry’s strategy to integrate different modes of transport with seaports and logistics zones, improving cargo movement by sea, road, and rail.

The initiative aims to reduce waiting times and handling costs, enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, and facilitate access to markets for Egyptian products. It also involves developing integrated logistics corridors linking industrial, agricultural, mining, and service production areas with seaports through dry ports, logistics zones, roads, conventional railways, and high-speed electric trains.
