Arab Finance: QNB Egypt has opened a branch at Al Amreya Dry Port in Alexandria Governorate to provide banking and trade finance services to businesses operating at the facility, as per an emailed press release.
The opening coincided with the port’s inauguration and the start of its operations.
The branch will support import and export transactions, payments and collections, and the issuance of letters of credit and letters of guarantee. Its services also cater to companies involved in maritime activities, logistics and customs clearance, with a focus on facilitating financial transactions and improving business efficiency.
The expansion forms part of QNB Egypt’s strategy to establish a presence in key economic hubs and offer specialized banking services to the trade, transportation and logistics sectors.
“The opening of our branch at Al Amreya Dry Port marks another step in strengthening our presence across key economic sectors and providing integrated banking solutions that meet their evolving needs. With this strategic presence, we aim to support businesses in trade and logistics, facilitate their financial transactions, and deliver services tailored to their business requirements, reinforcing the bank’s role in supporting trade and economic activity in Egypt,” Mohamed Khairat, Assistant CEO, Board Member and Chief Business Officer at QNB Egypt, said.
Developed with an investment of EGP 700 million, Al Amreya Dry Port covers approximately 146,000 square meters. The facility strengthens connections between seaports, industrial areas, and distribution centers, supporting trade and production activities in Alexandria.
By integrating different modes of transport, the port aims to improve cargo handling, relieve congestion at seaports, and reduce transportation time and costs. These improvements are intended to facilitate imports and exports and strengthen Egypt’s economic competitiveness.
The project falls within the Ministry of Transport’s plans to develop integrated international development and logistics corridors and establish Egypt as a regional hub for transportation, logistics, and transit trade. The strategy connects land and dry ports and logistics zones with roads, railways and modern transportation systems.
Safety Link, which manages and operates Alexandria Dry Port, contributes to the development of its logistics infrastructure and operational capabilities to meet the changing requirements of businesses and investors.
