Methanex Egypt inks deal on petroleum sector safety capacity building

Arab Finance: Methanex Egypt and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed a new agreement to back the sector’s capacity building program (Wave III), according to a press release.

Signed on the sidelines of EGYPES 2026, the deal aims to advance process safety management (PSM) systems and asset integrity capabilities across Egypt’s oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors.

Mohamed Shindy, Methanex Egypt Managing Director, commented: “Through initiatives like Capacity Building Wave III and our recently launched PSM professional diploma with AUC and the ministry, we continue to support efforts that develop capabilities, nurture future leaders, and enable safer, more reliable operations across Egypt’s energy industry.”

The agreement is set to deliver specialized training modules designed to strengthen process safety culture in line with industry best practices and international standards.

The program intends to improve human capital by building competencies and evolving a robust safety culture in line with the ministry’s strategic pillars.

At EGYPES 2025, both sides inked a $1 million deal, which included the AUC-Methanex professional diploma.
