Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Orange CEO Christel Heydemann to discuss expanding the group’s investments in Egypt’s telecom and information technology sectors, as per a statement.
During the meeting, Orange announced plans to provide training grants to around 200,000 people in AI and cybersecurity, including opportunities to obtain internationally recognized certifications.
The group has also allocated €25 million to back AI startups and committed to equipping a number of Egyptian universities with modern technology laboratories.
For his part, President El-Sisi lauded Orange’s activities in Egypt across telecommunications services, digital transformation, smart platforms, community development, and digital education.
He also expressed Egypt’s interest in expanding the group’s investments in the local market, citing growth opportunities and state efforts to develop digital capabilities and empower youth.
The discussions also covered potential cooperation between Egypt and Orange in the second phase of the National Digital Health Project, leveraging the group’s expertise in digital infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and systems integration.
Orange Egypt recently entered a strategic partnership with Marakez to deploy telecommunications infrastructure, smart systems, and integrated digital services across four residential and commercial developments.
