Onion prices also rose strongly, increasing 8% on the day to EGP 16.1 per kilogram and 6.2% over the month, although they were still 13.7% lower than a year earlier.
Potatoes reached about EGP 12.6 per kilogram after a 4.8% daily increase, despite posting declines of 3.3% on a monthly basis and 1.6% annually.
Lemon prices moved in the opposite direction, falling 2.2% on the day and 10.2% over the month to EGP 33.3 per kilogram, while remaining 6.2% higher than last year.
Cucumbers also declined, dropping 5.1% on the day to EGP 18.4 per kilogram, despite a 6% monthly increase and a 4% year-on-year decrease.
The IDSC attributed these price movements to changes in supply and demand dynamics, alongside fluctuations in transportation and production costs across local markets.
