Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) has launched two e-platforms for continuing medical education and training in Egypt, in partnership with the US-based pharmaceutical and healthcare firm Viatris.

Not to mention, it has niche specializations in specific treatments, including hepatitis C virus (HCV) therapy.

The first phase of the project is expected to kick off this year, and will include a multi-specialty university hospital with 532 beds, an outpatient complex that includes 168 clinics and 30 dialysis units, an advanced simulation center for education and training, a virtual hospital, a command-and-control center, and a central services station.

This will reduce delays in medical expense reimbursement, fostering collaboration with insurance companies and spurring the growth of the health insurance industry in Egypt. The announcement was made during an event organized to flaunt the company's major success stories, in presence of influential players in Egypt's health insurance.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the upgrade of 251 healthcare units nationwide under the presidential initiative aiming at reducing mortality rates resulting from non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.

The extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of Speed Medical Company (SPMD) has approved raising the company’s issued capital to EGP 332.743 million by EGP 110.914 million via the issuance of 554.572 million shares at a par value of EGP 0.2 per share, according to a statement filed to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) on February 5th.
