ABB opens electrification training lab at Egyptian Engineers Syndicate

Arab Finance: ABB has opened a Distribution Solutions Lab at the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate’s headquarters to provide engineering students and professionals with practical training in electrification technologies, as per a press release.

ABB experts will deliver programs ranging from individual sessions to workshops held over multiple sessions, covering basic product operation through to advanced applications. Participants will gain hands-on experience with the company’s electrification portfolio and receive certificates of attendance upon completion.

The facility houses a UniGear ZS1 primary switchgear cubicle, an NAL air load break switch and an interactive simulation screen demonstrating ABB’s full range of electrification products.

Speaking at the inauguration, Abdallah Kassem, Board Member and Electrification Commercial Lead at ABB in Egypt, said: "Partnering with the Engineers Syndicate brings our cutting-edge distribution solutions and specialized training capabilities directly to Egypt's engineering community. The UniGear ZS1 represents the pinnacle of modern electrification engineering, combining efficiency and reliability. With many of our products manufactured right here in Egypt, we are well positioned to deliver world-class electrification expertise to our customers and partners in the region."

For the Syndicate, the lab forms part of a wider effort to connect engineering education with workplace requirements. Karim Alaa El-Din, Head of the Electricity Department and Labs Committee, said the collaboration would give Egyptian engineers access to expertise and modern technology while creating opportunities to develop young engineering talent.

Mohamed Abdel Ghani, Head of the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate, linked the partnership to the organization’s strategy for improving engineering training and qualifications. In his keynote address, he highlighted the need for a practical learning environment that helps engineers and students keep pace with changes in the electrical energy sector. He also expressed pride in hosting the specialized facility, citing its role in supporting innovation and advancing the profession.

Ahmed Hammad, Chairman of ABB in Egypt, placed the initiative within the company’s longstanding involvement in the country’s industrial sector. "The inauguration of this training lab reflects our commitment to empowering local talent and strengthening technical capabilities within the local electrification sector. Through strategic partnerships such as this one with the Engineers Syndicate, we continue to contribute to Egypt's sustainable development and industrial growth."
