Arab Finance: Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh discussed setting a timeline for cooperation in natural gas, petroleum exploration, and electricity interconnection, as per a statement.

During the meeting, Madbouly stressed the need to activate the Egypt-Libya Joint Committee and deepen bilateral relations. He stated that Cairo is seeking closer cooperation with Libya in energy, particularly in natural gas, petroleum refining, and electricity grid interconnection.

He also highlighted Egypt's efforts to expand electricity links with neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia and Libya, to support regional energy exchange, while pointing to opportunities for joint fertilizer production.

For his part, Dbeibeh said Libya is committed to strengthening cooperation with Egypt, particularly in the energy sector, and reaffirmed support for the Egyptian community living in Libya.

He added that Libya is keen to encourage joint investments and expand the participation of Egyptian companies in major development and infrastructure projects, particularly in the construction sector.

Moreover, Dbeibeh underscored the importance of advancing electricity interconnection, enhancing coordination between executive bodies, and expanding cooperation in petroleum products, refining, natural gas, and oil exploration.

The Libyan prime minister also proposed organizing a forum bringing together Egyptian and Libyan companies to discuss investment opportunities, alongside holding business exhibitions in both countries.

During the discussions, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty said Egypt is looking forward to convening the Egypt-Libya Joint Committee as soon as possible and expanding the role of Egyptian companies in Libya's planned development projects. He also highlighted Egypt's support for the Libyan community in Egypt and ongoing coordination with Libya in international forums.

Meanwhile, Minister of Electricity Mahmoud Esmat outlined opportunities for cooperation in electricity interconnection and renewable energy, while Karim Badawi reviewed ongoing coordination between the two countries, particularly in the natural gas sector.

The meeting followed talks earlier in the day between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Libyan delegation, during which El-Sisi reaffirmed the two countries' close ties and commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
