Arab Finance: Trade between Egypt and BRICS members rose to $36.7 billion in the first half (H1) of 2026, up from $29.3 billion in the same period in 2025, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Egyptian exports to BRICS countries were valued at $6.6 billion during January-June 2026, compared to $7.4 billion in H1 2025.
Saudi Arabia was Egypt's top BRICS importer, as Egyptian exports to the Kingdom reached $1.8 billion, followed by the UAE and India, with $1.7 billion and $868 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Egypt's imports from BRICS states reached $30.2 billion in H1 1016, up from $21.8 billion in the same period a year earlier.
China was Egypt's top exporter, with imports worth $10.4 billion, followed by the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with $5.3 billion and $5.2 billion.
During fiscal year (FY) 2024/2025, investments by BRICS countries in Egypt totaled $6.2 billion, while Egyptian investments in BRICS countries amounted to $2.2 billion.
Remittances from Egyptians working in BRICS countries stood at $15.7 billion in FY 2024/2025, rising from $9.8 billion in FY 2023/2024. Remittances from Egyptian in Saudi Arabia led the list, with transfers totaling $12 billion.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi returned to Egypt after participating in the 18th BRICS Summit in India, which was held from September 12 to 13.
On the sidelines of the summit, El-Sisi met with leaders of BRICS member states, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
