El-Sisi, Putin discuss progress on major Egyptian-Russian projects

Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Russia across various fields, according to a statement.

On the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, the two leaders emphasized their keenness to continue efforts to reinforce bilateral relations in a way that serves the interests of both countries and their peoples.

El Sisi also discussed key projects under the Egyptian-Russian partnership, particularly the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), in addition to joint projects in energy, trade, investment, food security, and tourism.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to addressing any challenges that may hinder the implementation of these projects.

The president also welcomed the Russian authorities’ decision to accredit Alexandria and El Alamein international airports, which is expected to support the expansion of Russian tourism to new destinations in Egypt.

For his part, Putin reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Egypt and supporting its comprehensive development efforts, including the completion of major joint projects according to agreed timelines and specifications.
