Arab Finance: The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources plans to bring the West Mina gas field online by early December with a production capacity of 160 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMcf/d), as it seeks to strengthen domestic gas supplies, the ministry stated.
The timeline was announced during a meeting between Sayed Selim, Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and Mohamed Samir, Chairman of Burullus Gas Company. The meeting reviewed Burullus's current and future production plans as part of the ministry's strategy to increase domestic gas production.
West Mina is among the key projects under development in the Northeast Amriya area of the Mediterranean Sea. The field is being developed in partnership with Shell and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) as part of the ministry's program to expand exploration, production, and field development activities.
The meeting also reviewed progress on reconnecting the Sepia Da well to production using thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) technology.
Officials discussed several opportunities to raise gas output, including the Acid Stimulation project, which is scheduled to begin in September and is expected to increase production by around 40-60 MMcf/d.
In addition, participants reviewed progress on the 4D seismic survey project, including completed work and its potential to identify new production opportunities from high-pressure and high-temperature reservoirs.
At the end of the meeting, Selim called for flexible mechanisms to accelerate future projects, particularly Phase 12A of the West Delta Deep Marine gas field development project, which is expected to begin production in early 2028.
