Arab Finance: The Egyptian Cabinet decided to increase the minimum wage by EGP 1,000 to EGP 8,000 monthly, commencing from July 1st, according to a statement.
Speaking at a weekly cabinet press conference, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly highlighted that the wages included in the fiscal year (FY) 2026/2027 budget would rise by 21%, compared to the previous FY.
Madbouly noted that the approved increase includes the 15% allowance, in addition to an exceptional raise for teachers and healthcare workers.
On his part, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk highlighted that a 12% bonus will be applied to those not covered by the Civil Service Law and a 15% increase to those covered by the same law.
Teachers’ salaries will jump by EGP 1,100, while healthcare workers will receive an additional EGP 750.
Earlier this week, Madbouly pointed out that the wage increase is set to exceed the country’s inflation rate for the first time.
