Arab Finance: Domestic steel prices rose on Thursday, September 24, 2026, amid fluctuating input costs and concerns over the effect of safeguard duties on imported billets, according to figures from the Chamber of Metallurgical Industries at the Federation of Egyptian Industries.

Ezz Steel quoted around EGP 40,850 per ton for straight rebar and approximately EGP 38,000 for coils. El Marakby Steel quoted nearly EGP 39,800 for rebar and EGP 38,500 for coils, while Algioshy Steel recorded EGP 36,500 and EGP 38,500 for its DWR specification.

Beshay Steel’s price stood at EGP 40,200 per ton, followed by Suez Steel at EGP 39,950, El Garhy Steel at EGP 39,200, and Egyptian Steel at EGP 38,500.

Among other producers, Al Madina Steel and Misr Steel recorded EGP 38,000 and EGP 36,000 per ton, respectively. Noubaria Steel quoted EGP 37,000, Arab Steel EGP 36,200, Antar Steel EGP 36,100, Bianco Steel EGP 36,000, and El Ola Steel EGP 35,700. Maadi Steel’s DWR price stood at EGP 38,000 per ton.

All quoted prices include 14% value-added tax and are ex-factory. Prices paid by consumers may differ depending on transport costs, trading margins, and the point of sale.

The price movements come as the market assesses the effects of safeguard duties on billet imports. Billets are a primary input for rolling mills producing rebar, and concerns have emerged that higher costs could place around 20 mills under operational and financial pressure, potentially affecting production.
