Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, and Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem to discuss issues requiring coordination between the two ministries.

Talks covered efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in the energy sector, alongside plans to expand industrial production, deepen local manufacturing, and increase the value added of national products.

Badawi reviewed the key outcomes of the Egypt Mining Forum, highlighting participants’ appreciation of the president’s interest in the sector and his directives to address challenges facing mining investments.

He also reviewed the petroleum sector's performance and its impact on economic growth for fiscal year (FY) 2025/2026, alongside updates on exploration and production activities for crude oil, condensates, and natural gas, as well as discoveries and reserve additions.

For his part, Hashem outlined a strategy to localize supporting and complementary industries, particularly refractories, alloys, engineering, and metal casting.

The meeting also rolled out plans to deepen Egypt’s steel industry by expanding the processing of locally available raw materials and maximizing their economic value.

Regarding industrial land, El-Sisi stressed the need to take the necessary measures to reclaim vacant and unused plots within industrial zones to ensure the optimal utilization of land allocated for industrial development.

The officials also reviewed efforts to strengthen industrial cooperation with African countries and the EU, with the aim of boosting production and exports while facilitating technology transfer.
