Fort Capital Group plans $250M food production complex in Ain Sokhna

Arab Finance: Egypt-based frozen French fries producer Fort Capital Group plans to invest up to $250 million in a new industrial complex in Ain Sokhna as it expands production capacity and pursues further export growth, as per a press release.

The complex will house production lines for frozen pre-fried French fries and specialized food products. Its first phase is expected to deliver an annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes, while the group aims to increase its total annual output to approximately 600,000 tonnes of finished products by 2032.

The investment forms part of Fort Capital Group’s ambition to become one of the Middle East’s leading processed potato producers. According to the company, it is Egypt’s second-largest French fries exporter and ranks 14th among the country’s food and beverage exporters, supplying more than 18 international markets.

Alongside its manufacturing plans, the group is showcasing its Fregy’s brand at SIAL Paris 2026, an international food industry exhibition running from October 17 to 21 in Paris. The brand has a dedicated booth at the event, where the company is seeking international partnerships and access to additional markets.

Tamer Mosalam, co-founder and vice chairman of Fort Capital Group, said: “Our participation in SIAL Paris represents an important step in our strategy to expand globally and strengthen our exports of Egyptian food products. We aim to leverage this participation to open up new opportunities for cooperation with international partners and broaden the reach of Fregy’s products into new markets, building on the quality of Egyptian products and our manufacturing capabilities and competitiveness.”

The group’s expansion strategy combines investment in manufacturing with efforts to broaden its export reach, responding to growing demand for processed food products and seeking a larger international presence for Egyptian food exports.
