GAFI, Al Habtoor Group explore investment opportunities in Egypt

Arab Finance: The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and UAE-based conglomerate Al Habtoor Group explored potential investments and expansion opportunities in Egypt across several sectors, as per a statement.

The talks came during a meeting between GAFI CEO Mohamed Awad and Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, founding chairman of Al Habtoor Group, as part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s efforts to attract additional foreign direct investment and broaden Egypt’s investor base.

Awad said Egypt is seeking to strengthen its investment partnership with the UAE and draw on Emirati investors’ experience in establishing high-quality projects in the local market.

GAFI is working to simplify investment procedures and provide investors with the information and data needed to expand their existing operations and evaluate new projects, he added.

The meeting covered opportunities in real estate, tourism, hospitality, education, logistics, and services.

The two sides also reviewed Al Habtoor Group’s activities and its diversified portfolio, which spans real estate, hospitality, automotive, and education.

Al Habtoor expressed the group’s interest in examining opportunities in the Egyptian market and identifying areas that correspond with its experience and future plans.

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining communication with GAFI as the group continues studying potential investments in Egypt.
