Arab Finance: The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Oracle Egypt have agreed to provide training in cloud computing technologies for Egyptian entrepreneurs and GAFI employees, as part of broader discussions on localizing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies in the country, as per a statement.

The agreement came during a meeting between Mohamed Awad, CEO of GAFI, and Waleed Ahmed, Country Manager of Oracle Egypt and Vice President of Applications for the Mid-Market in Eastern and Central Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, alongside Tamer Gamal, Technology Director at Oracle Egypt.

The discussions covered Oracle’s plans to expand technology localization in Egypt and reviewed its latest solutions in cloud computing, AI, and database management to support the digital economy and develop the country's technology sector.

The proposed training opportunities form part of Oracle Egypt’s broader initiative to equip 150,000 Egyptians with cloud computing skills, helping develop local expertise and accelerate the adoption of digital technologies among Egyptian institutions.

Awad said Oracle’s plans align with Egypt’s national investment strategy, which identifies the localization of advanced technologies as a priority. He reaffirmed GAFI’s commitment to supporting the company by coordinating with relevant authorities, simplifying administrative procedures, and facilitating the issuance of the necessary permits and licenses.

For his part, Ahmed reiterated Oracle’s commitment to expanding the adoption of cloud computing and AI technologies across Egypt through cooperation with public and private sector institutions.

He also emphasized the importance of developing local talent and equipping professionals with digital skills as a central component of Oracle’s efforts to strengthen Egypt’s technology ecosystem.
