Arab Finance: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated NaTrans Fertilizers and Chemical Industries’ $10 million factory in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, which operates under the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), as per a statement.
Built on an 18,000-square-meter site, the facility has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons and creates around 490 jobs, comprising 140 direct and 350 indirect positions.
The factory operates within the area developed by the Egyptian-Chinese Joint Investment Company and produces phosphate fertilizers and related chemical products, including powdered and granular single superphosphate.
During a tour of the facility, Madbouly inspected its production lines, manufacturing processes, and finished products. He also received a briefing from NaTrans Chairman Nader Metwally on the factory’s operations and expansion plans.
Madbouly said the expansion of chemical manufacturing supports Egypt’s efforts to develop value-added industries and supply production inputs to key sectors, particularly agriculture.
He added that these industries could strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian products, expand exports, and support the country’s role as a regional manufacturing hub.
The company plans to invest an estimated $45 million in future expansions across an additional 28,000 square meters, according to Metwally.
The expansion is expected to raise the factory’s annual phosphate fertilizer production capacity to 375,000 tons while adding capacity to manufacture 120,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year.
