Arab Finance: The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) explored opportunities to expand industrial and investment cooperation, including in electronics and logistics alongside apparel and textiles, according to an authority statement.
This came during a meeting between SCZONE Chairman Moustafa Shaikhoun and an HKTDC delegation led by Associate Executive Director Jacky Chung at the authority’s headquarters in the New Capital.
During the meeting, Chung expressed interest in closer cooperation with SCZONE, explaining that the visit aimed to identify opportunities for collaboration and assess its industrial and logistics capabilities. He said Hong Kong connects businesses with global markets, helping them expand their operations and investments internationally.
He proposed extending cooperation to electronics and logistics, in addition to apparel and textiles, to develop industrial and commercial partnerships and create opportunities for companies across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
For his part, Shaikhoun said the SCZONE seeks stronger ties with Hong Kong’s business community to attract new investments and pursue industrial partnerships.
He outlined the zone’s advantages, including its strategic location, links between industrial areas and seaports, developed infrastructure, and incentives intended to attract capital and facilitate new projects. The range of projects underway across different industries demonstrates its appeal to international investors.
Shaikhoun also highlighted SCZONE’s efforts to promote its assets and competitive advantages, broaden its investor base, and build international partnerships. These efforts aim to support industrial localization and increase exports to regional and global markets.
