SCZONE targets more Norwegian investment in industrial, maritime sectors

Arab Finance: The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) is seeking to attract more European and international investment, including from Norway, as it looks to expand its investor base and strengthen integration with global supply chains, SCZONE Chairman Moustafa Shaikhon said.

Shaikhon made the remarks during a meeting with Norwegian Ambassador to Egypt and Libya Erik Husem and representatives of Norwegian companies operating in Egypt, including DNV Egypt Limited and Global Maritime Consultancy Egypt, to discuss investment and economic cooperation opportunities within the zone.

SCZONE has attracted investments from companies in more than 30 countries across industrial, logistics, and maritime sectors, Shaikhon noted.

He highlighted the zone's strategic location, four industrial zones and six seaports, including three on the Red Sea and three on the Mediterranean, which support integrated industrial, logistics, and maritime activities.

For his part, Husem said Norwegian companies have expertise in smart ports, digital transformation, green fuels for maritime transport, and maritime industries and services, expressing interest in expanding Norwegian companies' presence and investments in SCZONE.

The Norwegian delegation also visited the Ain Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, including Elite Solar's solar panel and component manufacturing facility at the TEDA-Egypt industrial developer, as well as Sokhna Port to review infrastructure and logistics expansions.
